Most packs of roof shingles will cover 3m2. You will need to work out how many packs you will need for the main body of the roof and then add on extra for the ridge. If you are not sure how to work this out our roof shingle calculator can help you.
The roof shingle calculator has been designed to work for a 2 sided apex roof. If your roof is different please contact us for advice.
You will need to take 2 measurements from your roof:
1 – The length of the ridge (in millimetres).
This is the measurement from the front to the back of the roof including any overhangs.
2 – The measurement from the eaves to the apex (in millimetres).
This is the measurement from the lowest part of the roof up the highest part. If your building has roof boards or fascias it will probably be easiest to measure the length of one of these. You only need the measurement from one side of the roof. We do not use the width of the building in this calculation.
This calculator will work out the exact quantity of roof shingles you will need. You should always round up to the next whole number to allow for the starter strip, offcuts and wastage. If your calculation is close to a round number i.e. 4.8, you might want to add an extra full pack to be on the safe side.
All calculations are given in good faith and are based on our experience and knowledge but without liability. It is your responsibility to make sure you are ordering the correct amount of roof shingles. We cannot be held responsible for any inconvenience caused and/or extra costs incurred.
